The Soulja Boy/Ice-T [click to read] situation has not died yet. What this so-called “beef” has become is a huge talking point in the industry where everyone has said their piece regarding the situation [click to read]. The latest to weigh in is none other than Method Man. Method Man appeared on Phoenix radio station Power 98.3’s The Nutz in the Morning show to lend his thoughts.

“It could get better,” Meth stated when addressing the state of Hip Hop today. “The state of music itself is in such turmoil because these kids have finally recognized their power. I’ve been telling them for years that they are the ones that have the power and set the trends. There doing it and they don’t even know they are doing it. All that downloading their doing is crippling the music industry.”

Meth went on to explain how some of these new trends have affected the quality of music.

“And that all trickles down into the quality of music and how the record labels conduct their business. The music is getting treated like fast food. There’s no movement in it anymore. No emcee, all rappers,” he continued.

Then the Ice-T/Soulja Boy situation was brought up and Method Man gave some interesting insight on the situation.

“Ice-T is an OG he don’t need to be even addressing nothing like that but he felt the need to address it for the love of Hip Hop and all that and I respect that. But him being the status that he’s at he shouldn’t be addressing someone like Soulja Boy – nor should Snoop Dogg,” he said. “But (Soulja Boy) is out there like that. If he wasn’t put out there like he was the truth I don’t think anyone would have a problem with him like that. Because lyrically he’s not the truth that’s no secret.”

But don’t get it confused, Johnny Blaze is not a fan. “These kids like him, so be it. Don’t hate on the little nigga, congratulate him,” he said before concluding with a final statement clearing him of liking Mr. Crank Dat’s music. “Don’t get me wrong though…I’m not bigging up Soulja Boy. I think the nigga sucks too! I think he’s garbage. I don’t think everybody should be blaming him for the state of Hip Hop right now. It’s not solely his fault.”

Method Man and Redman are currently in the studio working on their next collaboration together. No date has been set for the release.

After being criticized for being the proverbial fish out of water at the usually all rock Glastonbury Festival, Jay-Z wowed the sold out crowd with his performance yesterday.

The initial criticism came from Oasis singer Noel Gallagher, who not only objected to Jay-Z being at the show, but called Hip Hop at the festival “wrong.”

Criticism continued from longtime fans of the show, who blamed the MC’s appearance on the bill for slow ticket sales.

Jay-Z never responded to Gallagher’s allegation and took the highroad Saturday, taking the stage to Oasis’ hit song “Wonderwall” before launching into his stage set. While preferring to stay out of celebrity a back and forth, Jay couldn’t resist asking the crowd how they felt about his presence at the festival.

“They say you don’t want me here, Glastonbury,” he proclaimed. “Now tell me, where is the love?”

The question was met with a thunderous applause and by the end of the night, more than just the crowd sang the praises of Mr. Carter.

“That was a real triumph to bring hip-hop from the streets of New York to Glastonbury,” show promoter Michael Eavis told the BBC.

“All that doom and gloom about ticket sales, but we were completely sold out by Thursday and it we had such a younger audience.”

It seemed all too quiet on all fronts when it came to the G-Unit/Young Buck situation [click to read]. 50 Cent and his G-Unit crew have taken a few shots at Buck but Buck has remained relatively silent. But when Young Buck performed in Tampa recently, the former G-Unit member let his feelings be known.

After a fan shouted to Young Buck “G-Unit nigga!” Young Buck snarled right back saying “Fuck G-Unit!” Buck continued to speak with the crowd and clarified his position on the royalty comments that started the whole incident.

“When I said that I hadn’t received a royalty check, I wasn’t saying that 50 Cent took money from me. I said it because it is real!” Buck explained to the crowd. “All that you see on me is street money and show money.”

Young Buck has been adamant that all the money G-Unit has reportedly made has yet to hit the pockets of the Cashville emcee.

“Niggas are saying they have all this money – hundreds of millions -  and I ain’t seen shit!”

After stirring the crowd up, Buck then went to explain that he will be alright without 50 Cent and made sure the crowd understood the differences between a 50 and a Buck.

“The difference between me and 50 Cent is that I can hit the gutter and get back in the streets.  There’s a thousand dope boys that would give me every piece of work that they got. I can get right back out here with my people and get mine. I doubt 50 can go back and do the same.”

Although many view Soulja Boy as a kid who made up a silly dance and got famous, the young artist has been doing a lot in the time between albums. He’s been producing, rhyming, collaborating and battling with Ice-T [click to read]. Recently, he spoke on all the hoopla surrounding him.

“I’m sitting back in the cut. While I stop working, I’m still working,” he recently told MTV of his production. He’s cut tracks for himself, his protege and Bow Wow.

While he stays behind boards, he’s also got help from other producers for his upcoming album iSouljaBoy, something that didn’t happen on the first.

“The album is gonna be crazy. I got more features on there. The first album, I produced the whole album; second album I’m looking to work with different producers such as Polow Da Don. I might collab with artists such as Bow Wow and Sean Kingston.”

For those who aren’t privy to the beef brewing between Soulja and Ice-T, a war of words has started. First, Ice claimed Soulja Boy ruined the culture and that the young man could “eat a dick.” Mr. Crank Dat came back with a video dis, laughing about Ice-T’s age, his acting and relevancy [click to read].

Ice later released his own clip, where he apologized…sort of.

“I apologize Soulja Boy for telling you to eat a d*ck. That was just in anger. Because truthfully, a brother of my caliber shouldn’t be talking down on a youngster of your age,” Ice-T explained. “But as far as your music goes… it’s garbage! There are kids that go in the studio and really try to rap. That really sit down and write stuff. I’m talking about you are garbage! We got to get rid of that, man. Hip Hop has to last and it ain’t gonna last with you doing that Supaman bullshit.”

Soulja Boy retaliated with an animated video. As he put it, he is unafraid to go up against the O.G.

“I ain’t sugar-coat nothing. I ain’t back down. I ain’t scared of dude or nothing like that. I just told him how I felt when he spoke on me. This ain’t no beef or drama. I’m 17 years old and he’s I-don’t-know-how-old. I was defending myself.”

His new LP iSouljaBoy is set to be released in the Fall of 2008.
